Penicillin G also known as benzylpenicillin. It exert a bacteriocidal as   well as a bacteriostatic effect on susceptible bacteria by interfering with   the final stages of the synthesis of peptidoglycan, a substance in the   bacterial cell wall.
            
        
        

            

            
Applications（应用）
            
Penicillin G is effective against most gram-positive bacteria and   against gram-negative cocci. It has also been used as an experimental   convulsant because of its actions on gamma-aminobutyric acid mediated   synaptic transmission.
            
        
        

            

            
Biochem/physiol Actions（生化/生理功能）
            
Mode of Action: The β-lactam moiety (functional group) of penicillin G   binds to the enzyme (DD-transpeptidase) that links the peptidoglycan   molecules in bacteria. The enzymes that hydrolyze the peptidoglycan   cross-links continue to function, which weakens the cell wall of the   bacterium, it causes cytolysis(death due to osmotic pressure) in Bactria.   Antimicrobial spectrum: Gram-positive bacteria.
